Workforce readiness training for new graduate clinicians
Workforce readiness training is practice for the parts of the job that are not on the exam — being interrupted mid-task, escalating to a physician who pushes back, running a deteriorating patient on the clock, and de-escalating a frightened family. SimMedAi runs each as a live spoken drill with an AI counterpart, scored against the learner's own regulator and scope of practice.

The four drills
- On the Floor — prioritization under interruptions. Call bells, alarms and a colleague's question arrive while the learner is mid-task; the score is what they chose to do next, and what they safely deferred.
- Call the Provider — SBAR escalation to a skeptical prescriber who interrupts, questions the indication, and does not accept a vague situation line.
- Rapid Response — a patient deteriorating in real time. The clock is real, the vitals move, and waiting is itself a decision that gets scored.
- Hard Conversations — de-escalating an angry, grieving or frightened patient or family member without conceding anything clinically unsafe.
The Readiness Capstone credential
The capstone chains all four drills into a single timed shift and issues a verifiable, jurisdiction-stamped Workforce Readiness credential. Every credential carries a code that an employer or placement coordinator can validate against a public verification endpoint without an account, and an instructor can revoke.
What gets scored
Each drill is graded on communication structure, clinical prioritization, safety, and scope fidelity — whether the learner stayed inside the legal scope of their own role in their own jurisdiction. A Health Care Aide who reaches for an IV push, or an action that touches a controlled act under Ontario's Regulated Health Professions Act, is caught and cited to the governing legislation rather than quietly succeeding. Vocal Presence analytics separately score delivery — pacing, fluency, composure — and are built to never penalize an accent.
For instructors
Drills are entitlement-gated per cohort, reviewable turn by turn with the AI's rubric scores visible, and overridable: an instructor can replace any dimension score and attach written feedback that the student sees in their debrief.
Frequently asked questions
What is workforce readiness training?
Workforce readiness training rehearses the non-clinical failure modes of a first job — prioritizing under interruption, escalating to a prescriber, managing a deteriorating patient on the clock, and de-escalating conflict. It is distinct from exam prep, which tests knowledge, and from OSCE practice, which tests a structured patient encounter.
Is this real-time voice or typed?
Both. Every drill runs as a live spoken conversation with an AI counterpart, and a typed mode is available for learners without a quiet space or a working microphone. Spoken sessions are transcribed, scored and stored so an instructor can review the exact turn where a decision went wrong.
Does the drill know my scope of practice?
Yes. Each learner resolves to their jurisdiction-correct role, regulator and legal scope, and out-of-scope actions are scored against the governing legislation — not against a generic nursing rubric.
